To being it is important to know that I am the son of a Baptist Minister and grew up in church.
As such I have been active in every organization the church has to offer. From 1960 to 1966 my father was the
the Associate Pastor of 1st Baptist Church Greensboro, NC. This was a large church with lots of activities and programs.
In 1966 we moved to Akron, Ohio.
Southern Baptist were almost unheard of in Ohio at that time. There was no building, and almost no congregation. Over the years the church grew
and I learned to work with people of many different backgrounds and faiths.
While I was in High School I had my first company
and was making more money then my father at that time. I bought my own car, paid for gas and insurance.
as time for college came I had decided not to attend right away. One day I saw a newpaper article about another
ministers son who went to Mississippi College for free. The only requirement was to be a Southern
Baptist from Ohio. I could afford MC so my best friend and I made application.

In 1973 I moved to the deep south to attend MC a Baptist College
in Clinton, Mississippi. It took all four years to adjust to Southern Culture but I did it.
I also found my wife in Mississippi. Marilyn O'Quin and I were married in June 1977 just 2 weeks after I graduated from College.
Marilyn had another year or so of college so we worked
as house parents for 5 developmentally delayed children at the State School in Ellisville, MS while she finished school. This was truly a challenging time for newly weds
but I think it made us better parents and ministers.
I have known since I was 15 that God had called me
to ministry. I was unsure exactly what kind of ministry He would lead me to but I was confident that He would provide.
in 1978 we moved to NC to attend Southeastern Baptist Seminary.
Seminary was great but in 1980 our son was born and
the need to provide for a family took precedence. I had to take a temporary break from
classes to start a full time ministry in Greensboro. It was during this time that I first heard
of the upcoming ACTS Network. After a couple years at 16th Street Baptist I felt lead to begin
a video production company in preparation of the new programming outlet. During the time I had this
company we taped music videos, football games, political ads and worship services.
In 1985 God made it clear He was
ready for me to return to Seminary in preparation for future ministry. By now our daughter Kelly was
6 months old. With only 3 semesters of classes to go, I finished the following year.
While in seminary ACTS became a new network and I had made friends with many of the folks at the
Radio and Television Commission. Upon graduation I went to work for the network.
One of the main reasons I was hired was that I was not from the South. My work for the next year
was primarily with non Baptists groups, ministers and priests across the country. I worked in New York City, Harrisburg, PA,
Sarasota, FL, Fairfax, VA and Eureka, CA. I helped churches with the selection of equipment, production techniques
and the launching of the ACTS network. As part of the launch we held fundraising dinners that raised more than
a million dollars.
You will see on my resume that I served several churches over the past
25 years. In addition to my Church positions the Lord has lead me to work in several secular jobs. This
may seem strange for many folks but I believe that God has blended unique talents with my ministerial skills
in a unique way for His purpose. I love to minister and teach but I also enjoy the production activities.
Not many ministers have the ability to both preach/teach and to help other do the same through TV and radio.
